The Winfield Fire Protection District needed a new facility to replace its outdated fire station, originally designed for a volunteer department. The Doyle team was selected to construct a new 16,055 SF fire station to better support the evolving demands of a full-time team and enhance emergency response for the community. The new Station 31 includes an apparatus bay, storm shelter, and bunk room for 24-hour operations, along with modern amenities such as a kitchen and lounge, fitness room, training classroom, and dedicated offices to support both day-to-day activities and long-term needs.
The project site’s close proximity to a residential neighborhood introduced challenges around site access, equipment placement, and minimizing disruption. We remained mindful of these concerns throughout construction, adjusting logistics as needed and maintaining open communication to reduce the project’s impact on nearby residents. Combined with close coordination with the design team and ownership, these efforts resulted in a successful project that delivers a modern, efficient facility while maintaining a positive relationship with the surrounding community. The completed station now provides the Winfield Fire Protection District with the tools and space needed to better serve and protect the public.
