PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

E. P. Doyle was hired to complete Phase 1 of a two-phased extensive remodel of the B.R. Ryall YMCA in Glen Ellyn.  Phase 1 consisted of a new 10,000 s.f. Wellness Center, remodeling of the main lobby, and construction of new administrative offices.  This was the second project E. P. Doyle completed for the YMCA, the first being a gymnasium and daycare facility in the late 1980’s.

The YMCA needed to stay open during all phases of the construction.  The improvements were planned for the main entrance to the building.  Temporary entrances and project phasing were critical to the project’s success.  The logistical challenges along with doing a project that relies on charitable contributions put emphasis on the project’s budget.  E. P. Doyle worked with the architect and owner to value engineer over $400,000 out of the project allowing construction to start without delay.
