WPD Northside Park Renovations

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project was the first of a multi-phase flood remediation plan for the North Side Park in Wheaton.  E. P. Doyle diverted the flow of Winfield Creek to deepen one of the lagoons and restore the shoreline.   Material removed from the lagoon was used to double the size of the on-site sledding hill.  Trees were cleared and an old maintenance building demolished to improve visibility across the park.  The project also included replacing the overflow weir, bridge abutments and seven bridges.  New stone paths were constructed across the park.
